The Maxis Foundation exists because of two extraordinary people who taught me that serving others is one of life's greatest callings.

Michael and Lucille Maxis were more than my grandparents; they were examples of faith in action, compassion without conditions, and service without recognition. Long before there was a foundation bearing their name, they were already doing the work of uplifting others, encouraging those in need, and strengthening the community around them.

​

My grandfather, Reverend Michael Maxis, faithfully served both God and people through his leadership at Salt of the Earth Baptist Church. He understood that ministry extended far beyond the walls of a building; it was about meeting people where they were and helping them find hope.

​

My grandmother, Lucille Maxis, dedicated her life to helping others rebuild theirs. Through her work at Keys to Work and through countless personal acts of kindness, she poured into individuals and families who simply needed someone to believe in them. She never viewed service as an obligation; she viewed it as a responsibility.

​

Together, they demonstrated what it means to lead with humility, love without expectation, and give even when it is inconvenient.

​

Whether they were praying with someone, serving in the community, encouraging a struggling family, or opening their hearts to those in need, their lives reflected a simple truth:

People matter.

The Maxis Foundation was created to carry that truth forward.

​

Every initiative we launch, every family we support, every student we encourage, and every act of service we perform is rooted in the values they lived every day. Their legacy is the reason we continue to show up, give back, and invest in our communities.

This foundation is not simply names after Michael and Lucille Maxis.

​

It is a continuation of their life's work.

​

And through that work, we will continue to inspire the city and touch the world...one act of service at a time.
